‘Sacred’ if you are an aethist and see it through religious angle, it does not make sense. But if you are going to ponder over the logic that could be applied towards sacredness, you will not think it is irrational. River pollution is a problem for past few decades only. Till everyone worshipped ganga it was clean, when it was seen as a commodity (water source) over the past few decades ,it got polluted.
