Sex chromosomes inherited diseases and criss cross inheritance:

Genes for X chromosomes inherited diseases are present on non-homologous segment of X chromosome.

• Alleles of these genes do not present on Y chromosome.

• Genes of such characters are shifted from father to his daughter and from his daughter to her sons in F2 generation. This is recognized as Cris-cross inheritance.

• As the genes for most sex linked characters are present in X chromosome, they are named X-linked characters e.g., colour blindness and haemophilia in man and eye colour in Drosophila.

Hope it helped....

Explanation:

  • Sex chromosomes inherited diseases are seen in the non-homologous statement of the X chromosome. They are absent in the Y chromosome. Genes are inherited from father to his daughter and forwarded to her son or daughter and so on.
  • These phenomena is known as cris-cross inheritance. Since most of the genes are present in the X linked chromosome, they are known as X linked characters. Examples are hemophilia and color blindness.
