"Shake well before use" is written on the bottle of medicine. The mixture contained in the bottle is liquid-liquid mixture. While shaking, the molecules of the liquid comes in random motion.

Explanation:

In a solution it is required that all the ingredients are properly dispersed. The instruction "Shake well before use" is generally used for a liquid-liquid solution which is non-homogeneous mixture.

when the medicine is at rest for a long period of time then the heavier particles settle at the bottom. On shaking the bottle, the heavier particles get properly dispersed into the solution which will add to the medicinal properties of the medicine.

Therefore, it is concluded that it is a non-homogeneous solution which needs to be shaken well before use.
