Shalini segregates the waste at home and puts the biodegradable waste in a pot containing soil. She leaves it for 15 days and uses that soil for her plants in the garden. Why do you think she did so

Shalini did this because the biodegradable waste would have turned into compost. Compost has a lot of nutrients which is good for the soil as well as the plants grown it.

The biodegradable material will break down and in soil and convert into compost. Compost is a mixture of organic material formed in a process called composting. It takes 10-15 days for the composting depending upon the material.

Shalini added this compost in her garden because it will enhance the soil fertility which will help grow the plants.
