Shankara was born at Kaladi in Kerala
Kaladi is a well-known village in beautiful state of Kerala.
But according to some texts, it is also believed that Shankara was not born in Kerala but in Chidambaram in the state of Tamil Nadu.
His parents were of Nambudiri Brahmin origin and he lost his father at a very young age.
