let the number of notes is = x

so value of 500rs notes = 500*x= 500 x

and the value of 100rs notes = 100*x= 100 x

and according to statement we know that,

500x+100x= 10000

600x = 10000

X = 10000/600= 16.66 ( a note can't be in decimals )

so we taking 16 here

now value of 500 RS note = 16*500= 8000

and as we know total notes are 36

so 100 RS notes are =36-16= 20

so value of 100 RS notes = 20*100= 200

and our total value is 1000= 8000(500rs notes) +2000(100rs notes )
