Shanta Rao (1930 - 28 December 2007) was a notable dancer from India. She was exponent of Bharatanatyam and also studied Kathakali and Kuchipudi.
She was recipient of Padma Shri given by Government of India in 1971 [1] and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award given by Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama, in 1970 [2] and Kalidas Samman for Classical Dance of Government of Madhya Pradesh for 1993-94.[3]
Born in 1930 in Mangalore,[4] and lived in Mumbai and Bangalore. She died on 28 December 2007 at her home at Malleswaram, Bangalore.[5]
