sharad bought a table and a fan together for ₹ 500 . After some time he sold the table at the gain of 25% and the fan at a gain of 20% . Thus he gained 23% on the whole . Find the cost of the fan .

Let cost of Fan is X
cost of table is (500-X)

(500-X)×125/100 + (X)×120/100 = 500×123/100

(2500-5X)/4 +6X/5 = 615

(12500 -25X +24X)/20 =615

12500 -X=12300

X=12500-12300

X=200

So
Cost of Fan is 200
