The portion of cake that will remain with Sharmila is 1/2.

Given:

Sharmila had a 5/6 portion of the cake.

Her brother had a 2/6 portion of the cake.

To Find:

Amount of cake that will remail with Sharmila.

Solution:

Here, we have given the portion of the cake that Sharmila and his brother have.

now, we have to write 5/6 and 2/6 as,

=\frac{5}{6}-\frac{2}{6}

now, we have to calculate the difference between the portion that Sharmila had taken and his brother.

now we get,

=\frac{5-2}{6}

we will take the denominator as 6 because the LCM of 6 and 6 will 6.

now we get,

=\frac{3}{6}

after canceling the numerator and denominator with a common factor

we will get the value for the remaining portion of the cake \frac{1}{2} .

Thus, the portion of cake that will remain with Sharmila is 1/2.
