Answer:

Rs 3725

Step-by-step explanation:

Let say Rs x is invested at 5% per annum interest rate

Total amount invested = Rs 10000

Amount invested at 8% per annum interest rate = 10000 - x  Rs

Interest at 5 % rate on Rs x =  x * 5 * 1 / 100 = 5x/100 Rs

Interest at 8% rate on 10000 -x Rs =  (10000-x) * 8 * 1 / 100 = (80000 - 8x)/100

Total interest = Rs 688,25

5x/100  +  (80000-8x)/100 = 688.25

Multiplying by 100 both sides

=> 5x + 80000 - 8x = 68825

=> -3x = 68825 - 80000

=> -3x = - 11175

dividing by -3 both sides

=> x = 3725

Rs 3725 was invested at 5 %

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:                                                                  5%of x + 8% on (10000  - x) = 688.25

0.05x + 0.08 (10000 - x)

0.05x + 800 - 0.08x = 688.25

800 - 688.25 = 0.03x

111.75 = 0.03x

x =  11175 / 3

x = 3725
