English, asked by NikhilYadav799, 1 year ago

she said to me“where did you meet my son”?in reported speech

A1111: She asked me, where I met her son.
Raghav1111111111: no
A1111: What no ?, 'did' should be neglected, since in indirect speech, we convert the interrogative sentenct into an affirmative sentence. So, we use 2nd form of 'met' instead of 'did'.
A1111: sentence*
A1111: meet*
A1111: So, the answer should be :- She asked me, where I met her son.
fatamtany: It doesn't matter whether you neglect 'did' or not. Your answer is correct
fatamtany: Raghav's answer is wrong
A1111: No, this is the rule. We use 'did' in past indefinite (negative and not in assertive, i.e. "sentences containing not") and in interrogative (both assertive and negative) sentences.
A1111: Since, the given sentence is neither a past indefinite negative sentence nor a past interrogative sentence, we can't use 'did' here.

You can use root words instead of "said that"
