Answer:

Explanation:

Hello,

Today I was attempting exercises of Direct and Indirect conversion in Interrogative Sentences and came up with the following sentence,

* "May I come in, madam?" said she to the principal (direct speech)

It says in my book that if a sentence starts with a reported verb then you have to put 'if' in Indirect Speech. I have made Direct of it as,

* She asked the principal if she might come in. (Indirect Speech)
