The rosary is a holy necklace of beads. Many elderly people tell the rosary. ‘Telling’ the rosary means saying something while using the hands to count each bead. This ‘something’ is a prayer. People, like the author’s grandmother, tell the rosary to keep their minds occupied with prayers and good thoughts. The rosary used by people of different religions has a different number of beads.
