Answer :

  • The sum of money Sheela borrowed is Rs. 500

Step-by-step explanation ::

To Find :-

  • The sum of money Sheela borrowed

Solution :-

Given that,

  • Simple interest = Rs. 45
  • Time = 1 year
  • Rate = 9%

According the question,

We need to find out the principal,

As we know that,

Principal = ( S.I. × 100 ) / ( R × T )

Where,

  • S.I. = Simple Interest
  • R = Rate
  • T = Time

Principal = ( 45 × 100 ) / ( 9 × 1 )

Principal = 4500 / ( 9 × 1 )

Principal = 4500 / 9

Principal = 500

The sum of money Sheela borrowed is Rs. 500.

Now, Verification

We can very whether the answer is correct or not, by the formula of Simple Interest, if we get same simple interest then, the answer is correct.

Let's do !!!

Simple Interest = ( P × R × T ) / 100

Where,

  • P = Principal
  • R = Rate
  • T = Time

➠ 45 = ( 500 × 9 × 1 ) / 100

➠ 45 = ( 4500 × 1 ) / 100

➠ 45 = 4500 / 100

➠ 45 = 45

L.H.S = R.H.S

Hence, Verified !

Additional information

Some more information related to Simple interest :-

  • P = ( S.I. × 100 ) / ( R × T )
  • R = ( S.I. × 100 ) / ( P × T )
  • S.I. = ( P × R × T ) / 100
  • T = ( S.I. × 100 ) / ( P × R )

Here,

  • P = Principal
  • R = Rate
  • T = Time
  • S.I. = Simple Interest
