Sheena is playing carrom with her friend. after sometime they find this game to be boring and not so entertaining.They started arrangements with circular disks of the carrom board. Answer= a) Area of 9 circular disks??? B) if we join the centres of 4 disks in the corner what will be the side of the square? c) find the area of squares so formed d) what is the area of shaded region in square units e) if the perimeter of circle is equal to that of the square then find the ratio of their areas

(a)  area of the 9 circular disks,

area of  circle ( one carrom ) =\pi (radius)^{2} ,

 we know that radius is 'r'(assumed)

area of 1 cicular disk = \pi r^{2}

similarly,

area of 9 circular disks

= 9(\pi r^{2} )

(b) the side of the square =6r

if we join the 4 disks at a corner, then the side square is passing thrrough 1st circle to 4 circle. therefore,

    side = r+r+r+r+r+r\\

           =6r

(c) therefore the area os the square so formed is = 36r^{2}

we know side of the corner = 6r ,

therefore are = (6^{2}) (r^{2} )

                      =36r^{2}

(d)

"area ofa  shaded region = area of square - area of a circle parts present

                                               in side square"

area of the circle parts = \frac{\pi r^{2} }{4} + \frac{\pi r^{2} }{2} +\frac{\pi r^{2} }{4}

                                       =\pi r^{2}
