If there are 2 times as many apples as peaches plus 12 we could make the equation as

2x+12=36

Let peaches be x

Number of apples = 12 + 2x

Therefore already 36 apples are in the basket.

BTP,

=> 12 + 2x = 36

=> 2x = 36 - 12

=> 2x = 24

=> x = 24/2

=> x = 12
