If position of a particle is (x1,y1,z1) at some instant of time say, t1 and if it’s position becomes ( x2,y2,z2) at time t2, it’ displacement is given by (x2,y2,z2)-(x1,y1,z1). Obviously if displacement changes, the corresponding positions will also change.
