ship made of wood floats on water because it has less relative density. But as density is directly proportional to mass it should increase and as it has a huge mass it must have more density and it must sink. Why is this do?

Ship float because ship is hollow and trapped air which make it less denser than water.

Ships float on water not only because they are made of light meterials but also due to the fact that most of the part of the ship is hollow (filled with air ) hence increasing volume. Large amount of water is displaced creating higher up thrust for the ship to float( archimedes principle)
