Ans:- Shivaji visited Aurangzeb's court but was humiliated there. Enraged by this hr returned to the Deccan, plundered Surat and in 1674 proclaimed himself Chhatrapatti (emperor) of the new Maratha state. Many wars were fought between the Mughals and the Deecan until Shivaji died in 1680.
