Given : Shivani and Shabana invested 5: 6 in a joint venture.

After 4 months, Shivani withdrew its capital from the business and their dividend ratio was 5: 9.

To Find :    How long was Shabana's capital invested?

Solution:

Shivani and Shabana invested 5: 6 in a joint venture.

Let say shivani invested = 5x

and Shabana invested = 6x

After 4 months, Shivani withdrew

Hence  Shivani 's capital invested for 4 months

=> Shivani investment = 5x * 4  = 20x

Let  Shabana's capital invested for y months

Shabana's   investment = 6x * y = 6xy

dividend ratio was 5: 9

=>   20x :  6xy  =  5 : 9

=>  20 / 6y  = 5/9

=>  30/y  =  5

=> y  = 6

Hence Shabana's capital invested for 6 months
