Given,

Shivani purchased shoes of Rs. 2016, including 12% tax

And, she also purchased a handbag of Rs. 660 including 10% tax

To find,

The total tax percentage of the whole transaction.

Solution,

First of all, we have to separately calculate the taxes of two purchases.

Tax of the shoe purchase = 2016 × 12/100 = Rs. 241.92

Tax of the handbag purchase = 660×10/100 = Rs. 66

Total tax :

= Tax of the shoe purchase + Tax of the handbag purchase

= 241.92+66

= Rs. 307.92

Total purchasing price = (2016+660) = Rs. 2676

Total tax percentage = 100 × 307.92/2676 = 11.5% (approx)

Hence, the total tax percentage is 11.5%
