Answer:

5, 30

Step-by-step explanation:

Shoba's age = X

Shoba's mother's present age = 6X

After 5 years,

shoba's age = X + 5

shoba's mother's age = 6X + 5

But, ATQ,

X + 5 = (1/3) * 6X

X + 5 = 2X

X - 2X = -5

-X = -5

X = 5

6X = 30

Given

Shoba's mother age is 6 times of Shoba.

After 5yrs shoba's age will be

 \frac{1}{3}

of his mothers present age.

To find :- Their present ages

SOLUTION

Let shoba's present age be x

Then shoba's mother age will be 6x

Now,

According to the question,

x + 5

 =  \frac{1}{3} (6x)

We will solve this linear equation in two variable to get the ages of shoba and his mother.

x \:  +  \: 5 =  \frac{1}{3} (6x)

 = > x + 5 \:  =  \:  \frac{1}{3}  \times 6x

 = > x + 5 = 2x

 = > x - 2x =  - 5

 = >  - x =  - 5

 = >  x = 5

Hence shoba's present age is 5yrs and present age of mother will be 5 × 6 = 30yrs

VERIFICATION

x + 5 =  \frac{1}{3}(6x)

 =  > 5 + 5 =  \frac{1}{3}  \times 6 \times 5

 =  > 10 = 2 \times 5

10 = 10

LHS = RHS

Our answer is correct !
