Shobha is three years older than his brother Suresh. Six years ago, Shobha's ago was four times the ago of Suresh. Find their present ages.​

Let the present age of Shobha be x and his brother be y years.

 x = y + 3

Six years ago,

Shobha age was = ( x - 6)

Suresh age was = ( y - 6)

  • Shobha age is 4 times the age of suresh.

 ( x-6) = 4(y-6)

 x-6 = 4y -24

 x-4y = -24 +6

 x-4y = -18

  • Put the value of x.

 y + 3 -4y = -18

 -3y +3 = -18

 -3y = -18-3

 -3y = -21

 y = \dfrac{-21}{-3}

 y = 7

hence,

The present age of ramesh is 7 years.

Age of Shobha is :-

→x = y + 3

→x = 7 + 3

→x = 10

hence,

The present age of Shobha is 10 years.
