total \: discount = 100 - 100 \times (1 -  \frac{20}{100} )(1 -  \frac{25}{100} )

 = 100 - 100 \times  \frac{80}{100}  \times  \frac{75}{100}

 = 100 - 60

 = 40 \: percent
