Short answer fo a lotus plant cannot grow in the desert . why ?

as the lotus flower needs water to grow and infact it grows in water only,it cannot be grown in the deserts

every plant species is adapted via evolution to the environment in which it grows.lotus grows in the wettest environment such as in lakes ponds etc.whereas in deserts no pond or lake is available and it remains dry. so lotus cannot grow in such environment
