The treaty of Versailles severely restricted the Axis powers (Germany, Italy). Germany was asked to surrender all its captured territories and had to pay a huge amount of money to allies. Due to this, the countries had to suffer from a failed economy, starvation and war debt, there was no strong government which was capable of solving the problems of the people nationwide. This led to the rise of the dictatorship of Adolf Hitler in Germany and Mussolini in Italy.
