Answer 1--

Resources are classified on the basis of availability in 2 categories-

•Renewable Resources-Resources present in large quantities and are re formed in short periods of time.Ex-water

•Non Renewable Resources-Resources present in limited quantities and take millions of years to reform.Ex-fossil fuels(coal, petroleum etc).

Answer 2--

•Potential resources - These are those resources which are present in the environment to satisfy human needs, but humans themselves don't have adequate technologies to use them. Example : uranium deposits of Ladakh.

•Developed resources - These resources have been properly measured in terms of quantity and quality for utilization. However the development of such resources depends on feasibility too. Examples : Minerals, resources used in food articles, conventional energy resources, cattle, etc.

Answer 3--

Classification of natural resources on the basis of distribution:

•Ubiquitous Resource: Resources which are available everywhere on the earth are called ubiquitous resources, e.g. air and water.

•Localised Resource: Resources which are available at select locations on the earth are called localized resources, e.g. coal mines in Jharkhand.

*Topography, climate and altitude are the major factors which affect the distribution of natural resources.

Answer 4--

•Abiotic factors refer to non-living physical and chemical elements in the ecosystem. Abiotic resources are usually obtained from the lithosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere. Examples of abiotic factors are water, air, soil, sunlight, and minerals.

•Biotic factors are living or once-living organisms in the ecosystem. These are obtained from the biosphere and are capable of reproduction. Examples of biotic factors are animals, birds, plants, fungi, and other similar organisms.

Answer 5--

Some countries in the world have resources but they cannot use these resources. This is because they don't have the money to buy technology from which these resources could be used.

Example of Uranium in Ladakh, India. Uranium is used to make atomic energy. But we don't have the technology to convert this uranium into an usable form. So it is a potenital resource and cannot be uSed until we have the right techonlogy.

Hope this answer helps you.
