Short answer questions
1. What is friction
Answers
Answer:
Friction is a contact force that always opposes the motion.
Friction is of three types :
☆ Static friction - When we apply force to an object but that object doesn't tend to move because the force is less than the friction, is known as static friction.
☆ Sliding friction - When the force overcomes the friction, then the object starts to slide, this is known as sliding friction. Static friction changes to sliding friction.
☆ Rolling friction - When we place rollers under an object so as to make the movement of that object easier, then it is known as rolling friction.
Static friction > Sliding friction > Rolling friction
Frictional force exerted by fluids (liquids and gases) on an object moving through fluids is known as drag.
Answer:
friction is defined as the force which opposes the relative motion between two surfaces that are in contact with eachvother. The word friction came from the Latin word ""fr I are""which means to rub. There are three types of friction
(I) static friction
(ii) sliding friction
(iii) rolling friction
