If coal is heated in air , it produces carbon dioxide and no other useful products obtained.

Uses of coal -
Electricity generation
Liquid fuel
steel production
cement manufacturing

If coal is heated in the presence of air than it mainly produce the carbon dioxide gas and no other substance it formed...

It also shows that it is a physical change as now new formation is there except co2.
