Answer:
.It is developed for measuring the human body temperature. It is a long narrow glass tube with a bulb containing mercury at the end. The normal human body temperature is 37˚C; which can fluctuate between the ranges 35˚C to 42˚C. Hence, the clinical thermometers have the range 35˚C to 42˚C.
.Laboratory thermometers are devices used to measure temperature. There are many types of lab thermometers such as differential, mechanical, logging, etc. Laboratory thermometers are progressively providing digital reading displays and are input-capable to computer and software programs for logging purposes.
3. a thermometer that records the highest and lowest temperatures since it was last set.
.Digital thermometer are used these days instead of clinical thermometers because: Digital thermometers are designed to be more accurate. Most digital thermometers have digital screening which extract temperature of wherever you are measuring.
.Why do metal saucepans have plastic or wooden handles? Metal is a good conductor of heat. If the handles of the saucepans were made of metal, they would become too hot to hold and that would be dangerous. Someone trying to hold a metal handle could drop the saucepan or receive a nasty burn.
.Convection is the dominant mode of heat transfer within fluids. When part of a fluid is heated, its density is decreased and it rises. Heat convection in liquids can be demonstrated with the use of two temperature sensors and a large container with water heated at one place.
.Radiation is energy that comes from a source and travels through space and may be able to penetrate various materials.
.This can be done by constructing outer walls of buildings so that they have trapped layers of air. One way of doing this is to use hollow bricks, which are available these days.
.We prefer white coloured clothes in summer because white colour is poor absorber of heat and so they keep us cool during summer. On the other hand, during winter we prefer black and dark coloured clothes because black colour is good absorber of heat and thus they keep us comfortably warm during winter.
