Answer :

1)A lichen is not a single organism; it is a stable symbiotic association between a fungus and algae and/or cyanobacteria. ... The lichen symbiosis is thought to be a mutualism, since both the fungi and the photosynthetic partners, called photobionts, benefit.

2)It's caused by the bacteria Bacillus anthracis. Historically, anthrax was called wool sorter's disease because individuals who sorted wool of infected animals contracted the disease.

3)If the soil is too basic, then decaying organic matter (called manure or compost) is added to it. The decaying organic matter releases acids which neutralise the excess bases present in the soil and reduce its basic nature.

4)Most made in the 20th century are mercury-in-glassthermometers. They are accurate and sensitive, having a narrow place where the mercury level rises very fast. A kink in the tube stops the mercury level from falling on its own.

5) The diaphragm is a dome-shaped muscle underneath the lungs. When it contracts, oxygen rich air is pulled inside the lungs and when it relaxes, carbon dioxide is pumped out from the lungs.
