a) The process of utilization of food by a living organism to obtain energy is called nutrition.

b) Saprophytes such as fungi and mushroom lack chlorophyll and hence cannot prepare their food.

c) Manures and fertilizers help in conserving and enriching the fertility of the soil. That's why farmer add manure or fertiliser to the soil.

d) The leaf of a pitcher plant is modified to form a pitcher-like structure. When an insect sits on the pitcher, the lid of the pitcher gets closed and the insect gets trapped inside.
