Mr. John P. Spaulding a famous philanthropist was a dear friend of Helen Keller, the blind and deaf American author. Helen, in her biography "The Story of My Life talks about John P. Spaulding and says that only those who knew him well enough, would know and understand what John's friendship meant to Helen. She said, John was a person who made everyone around him happy and was especially kind and considerate to Miss Sullivan and Helen.
