One of the legendary figures in Indian history is Chandrasekhar Azad, also popular as Azad. On his name, one gets reminded of the big change that occurred, the changing of the name od Hindustan Republic Association to Hindustan Socialist Republican Army (HSRA).
Azad was a dominant figure in those freedom fighting revolutions occured during the years when the British ruled. He was active in the protest against the brutal killing of Lala Lajpat Rai at Lahore in 1928. Together with Bhagat Singh, they formed the Hindustan Socialist Republic Army after the decease of the main founder Ram Prasad Bismil.
In 1928, he set out on a journey with Bhagat Singh to unify the general public against the British Government. His sole aim was to make India independent again.
He revolutionized until he got surrounded by British police at Alfred Park, Allahabad. He shot himself to death, not wanting to be captured alive. He died in 1931.
The name of Azad will remain forever on Indians' minds.

"Chandrasekhar Azad" was born on "July 23, 1906", and is also referred to by his popularly taken name as 'Azad'. He is well known and needs no new mention for his indispensable role in the freedom struggle of India. He played an active and a leading hand in the reorganization of the Hindustan Republic Organisation with the new name of HSRA which is Hindustan Socialist Republican Army.
Chandrasekhar joined the "Non-Cooperation Movement" organized by Mahatma Gandhi at the "age of 15" and consequently, he was arrested for being the part of it. Chandrasekhar grew aggressive and extremist during his fight for independence with every passing day and experience.
He worked actively for the arrangement and contextual working of the HRA group. Azad breathed his last on 1931 in Allahabad. He fought with all his courage when was encountered by police and his efforts aided Sukhdev's escape. He also made sure of not being caught and captured alive by killing himself in a park with the last bullet where he was surrounded by the police. He is always remembered as a courageous gem and a vital hand in providing freedom for India."
