Independence is a National Festival of India. It is celebrated every year on 15th of August to mark the independence of India from the British Rule.
On 15th August 1947, India got it independence and from then this day is celebrated as Independence Day.
On that day, The Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru raised the flag at Red Fort in Delhi.
And every year the incumbent Prime Minister does so.
Many cultural events, parades and flag hosting can be seen on this day throughout the country.
