This experiment is similar as to prove that carbon dioxide is released during respiration.
Take a conical flask and a moist cotton with germinated seeds kept on it then make the conical flask air tight and hang KOHon a small tube in the conical flask. Then a bent tube dipped in a beaker with water.
If water moves from beaker to the bent tube it shows that seed needs oxygen therefore it releases carbon dioxide and KOH has absorbed carbon dioxide it means vacuum pressure is pulling water through bent tube.
Therefore KOH is identified which absorb carbon dioxide
