Mitosis produces two diploid (2n) somatic cells that are genetically identical to each other and the original parent cell, whereas meiosis produces four haploid (n) gametes that are genetically unique from each other and the original parent (germ) cell.

Mitosis : Here two cells are formed from the division of a single cell and both have same the amount of Genitic material..

Meosis: for haploid cells are formed from the division of a single cell. this occurs by a series of divisions that is 2 cycles takes space Phase 1 and phase 2 .

it is used in the formation of gametes of haploid and diploid organisms .
