if plastic is put up on the gas stove its heat will melt the plastic,as the heat is directly absorbed by plastic , hence it melts .....but in microwave oven .the microwaves are of that much frequency that only the food particles molecules are vibrated and hence gain energy and therefore heat up and the food is cooked ...
