The food we eat, the water we drink, the book we read..anything..Scientist say that everything that is present in the universe is matter.All physical objects are matter. The smallest unit of matter is atom which is further composed of protons, neutrons  and electrons. Matter can be in the form of solids, liquids or gaseous state.
