  • Helen Keller, the little deaf and blind girl.

  • Helen Adams Keller was born on June 27, 1880 in Tuscumbia.

  • Her father was Captain Arthur H.Keller, a former officer in the Confederate Army of the US.

  • Her mother's name was Kate Adams. ( 2nd Wife of her father )

  • Helen was smart and healthy girl until 19 months but fell in the trap of ailment with symptoms of an acute congestion of the stomach and brain. It is also known as scarlet fever.

  • She lost her vision and auditory cognition due to that ailment.

  • At the age of 6, her mother managed to get a teacher, Anne Sullivan, to teach Helen.

  • Helen loved fragrances. Whenever she was free, she used to go out into the orchards and gardens to enjoy the fragrances of lilies, jasmine etc.

  • Helen mostly loves nature and wanted to be with the trees , animals, birds , flowers etc.

  • Despite her physical disabilities , she learnt how to climb trees , swimming etc.

  • Her teacher, Miss Sullivan helped her lot to enjoy the life and by teaching lots of new things.
