Answer:

Aurangzeb was the longest reigning mughal emperor next to Akbar both reigning for a period of 49 years.

After seating himself on the throne Aurangzeb embarked on an era of strong rule, the local cheiftains and zamindars had withheld revenue or resorted to plundering neighbouring areas during the war of succession. Aurangzeb immediately after his succession re-asserted the imperial authority and prestige. He was authoritarian ruler and a highly capable warrior, since the beginning of his reign till his death he was constantly engaged in numerous wars, either to suppress the revolts or to increase the territories of his empire. The mughal empire reached its greatest extent during his reign spanning from Kabul to Karnataka and from Gujarat to Bangladesh.

Another similar authoritarian and strong warrior was Alauddin Khilji of the Delhi Sultanate, he too was known for his strict control over his regime. But unlike Alauddin Khilji who was known for his market reforms, Aurangzeb’s achievements or rather be said achievement was quite impressive but his constant policy of expansion had costed many lives and an empty treasury.
