Acids are substances having a sour taste. The word ‘acid’ comes from a Latin word ‘ acere’ , which means sour. Acids are corrosive and react with bases to form salt and water. Also, acid turn blue litmus paper red. For example hydrochloric acid (HCl), sulphuric acid (H2SO4) are acids.
