The Heliodorus pillar is a stone column that was erected around 113 BCE in central India[1]in Vidisha near modern Besnagar, by Heliodorus, a Greek ambassador of the Indo-Greek king Antialcidas[2] to the court of the Shunga king Bhagabhadra. Historically, it is the first known inscription related to the Vaishnavism in India.[3][4][5] The site is located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northeast from Bhopal and 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) from the Buddhist stupa of Sanchi.[6]
