Blended fabrics are fabrics that are made using a combination of two or more different types of fibre to produce a new kind of fabric with unique qualities. They are especially created to combine the special attributes of different fibres to get a better product.

The idea of blended fabrics came to improve upon the drawbacks of available fibres. Cotton is a natural fibre and is breathable, light, soft and comfortable to wear but would wrinkle and shrink upon washing.  Polyester, being synthetic, does not breathe, can get uncomfortably hot and smelly to wear. On the other hand, when polyester is added to other fibres, it adds shape, strength and durability and holds color too.

Some examples of blended fibres are: polyester and cotton, cotton, polyester and viscose, wool and polyester, spandex and cotton, linen and silk.
