Short note on CAA and NRC:

  • On December 2019, the Parliament of India issued the Citizenship Act, 2019. This revised the 1955 Citizenship Act by establishing a route for Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Parsi, and Christian religious minorities who had escaped persecution from Pakistan, Myanmar, and Afghanistan previous to December 2014.
  • The National Citizens Register (NRC) is for all Indian people whose formation is needed by the 1955 Citizenship Act as changed in 2003. It was later introduced in 2013–2014 for the state of Assam.
  • The government of india plans to execute it for the remaining part of India in 2021. The center will make an order to update the NPR and establish the NRC based on the data obtained in the National Population Register (NPR) according to the 2003 Citizenship Regulations.
