A peaceful demonstration in a bazzar turned into a voilent clash with the police.

This incident led to the deaths of Three civilian n' 23 Policemen.. ! ! !

The incident of chauri chaura occurred in Gorakhpur of United province ( modern uttar Pradesh on 5 February 1922.

2) The large group of protestor participating in non cooperation movement clashed with police who opened fire.

3) Demonstrator attacked and set fire to a police station killing of all its occupants.

4) The incident lead to the death of three civilians and 22or 23 policemen

5) Mahatma Gandhi who was strictly against violence halted the non cooperation movement on national level
