a. Chief electoral officers are designated by the Election commission who are responsible for supervising all elections that takes place in a State.

b. There are Chief electoral officers appointed by the Election commission in every state or Union territory.

c. The office of the Chief electoral officer has to ensure that elections in a state take place in a fair manner.

d. The chief electoral officer is responsible for setting up of polling stations, preparation of electoral rolls, preparation of photo identity cards to the voters etc., in a state.
