Khelo India is a national scheme that aims to boost sports development in India. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, then the Sports Minister, launched the award in the year 2018. India's sports culture will be improved through this program.

The Union Cabinet approved the revamped ‘Khelo India’ program, which aims to mainstream sports as an effective tool for national, economic, community, and individual development, by consolidating the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (formerly the Yuva Krida & Khel Abhiyan), Urban Sports Infrastructure Scheme, and National Sports Talent Search System. As part of the program, "Sports for Excellence" as well as "Sports for All" are promoted.
