Blood is a fluid connective tissue, it consists of liquid extracellular matrix called PLASMA. Blood makes up 8% of human body weight.

Blood has 2 components:-

1) CELLULAR PART :- RBC ( thrombocytes) - 45%, 4.8–5.4 million cell/cmm of blood……….WBC ( leucocytes) - 1%, 5000–10000 cells/ cmm of blood……… Platelets ( thrombocytes) - >1%, 1.5-4 lakh cells/ cmm of blood.

2) NON CELLULAR PART :- non cellular part is basically plasma which is 54%, plasma is composed of, water- 91.5% and solids- 8.5%

solids are nothing but Na, K, Ca, Mg, P, Fe, Cu ions, proteins like serum albumin, fibrinogen, prothrombin, etc. fats, carbohydrates, antibodies, enzymes like proteases, lipases, etc. colouring pigments such as bilirubin, xanthophyllin, etc and gases like O2 CO2, N.
