• CV Raman was the first person to receive a Nobel Prize from Asian country. He received the honor for his work on discovery of the Raman Effect and scattering of light. Nobel Prize is one of the greatest honor and recognition for a scientist.
• CV Raman alias Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman was born in 8 November, 1888 in Chennai (then, Madras). He is the only Nobel Laureate from India, to be awarded the Nobel Prize in physics. Cv raman's discovery known as the `Raman Effect' made a very distinctive contribution to physics. For this discovery, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. He was the first Indian Scientist and also the first Asian to receive a Nobel Prize in Physics. This research made Raman famous in world's scientific circles.
